Fiona Smith founded Smith & Baxter in July 2013. She has been providing top quality publicity campaigns within the book publishing and lifestyle sectors for over twenty years. As former Head of Publicity at the Octopus Publishing Group, she devised and created highly successful campaigns for books by Terence Conran, Diana Henry, Orla Kiely, David Thompson, Valentine Warner, Shaun Hill, LEON restaurants, Allegra McEvedy, Pitt Cue Co., The Ginger Pig, Jancis Robinson amongst many others.
Early on in her career, Fiona worked in the publicity department at Phaidon Press covering projects with artists and photographers such as Martin Parr, Gillian Wearing, Marlene Dumas, Mario Testino, Magnum, James Nachtwey, Dazed & Confused and many more.
Smith & Baxter has been lucky to work on a range of exciting projects since its launch, including the the launch of Cereal Magazine; Tim Hayward’s book Knife; ongoing work with the independent book publisher Hoxton Mini Press; The Moorland Spirit Company; the Thames Lido, the Lido Bristol and work with the chef Freddy Bird and many more that can be found here.
Coming full circle Fiona Smith is working again with Phaidon but this time on the food books including The Sportsman by Stephen Harris, the Where Chefs Eat series, Bread is Gold by Massimo Bottura, The Great Dixter Cookbook by Aaron Bertelsen as well previous projects with Rene Redzepi and Ferran Adria. She is helped by her press assistant, Sophie.
Baxter is Fiona’s dog.
