Smith & Baxter launched in 2013 when Baxter was just a pup. We are a small and friendly PR agency specialising in food, drink, books, arts, photography and lifestyle.

We combine experience, knowledge and passion with an understanding that work should also be fun. With over twenty years of experience in publicity, food and book publishing, we also offer powerful insight into the world of food, arts, books and media.

Former Head of Publicity at the Octopus Publishing Group, Fiona has devised hardworking campaigns for the best names in food and drink, including David Thompson, Diana Henry, LEON, Allegra McEvedy, Shaun Hill, Xanthe Clay, Valentine Warner, Matt Tebbutt, Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She has also created PR strategies for art, design and lifestyle books, with authors like Terence Conran, Orla Kiely, Stephen Bayley and Jasper Conran.

Since setting up Smith & Baxter, we are proud to have worked on many exciting projects: the first ever Cereal Magazine; books by Cereal’s publishing arm Francis; Tim Hayward’s book Knife; Phaidon Press campaigns for Rene Redzepi, Ferran Adria, Massimo Bottura’s books Never Trust a Skinny Italian Chef and Bread is Gold, as well as Stephen Harris’ The Sportsman Cookbook published in 2017, which won both the André Simon and Fortnum & Mason food book of the year awards.

Ongoing clients and projects include the award-winning independent publisher Hoxton Mini Press, Hepple Spirits producer of the award-winning Hepple Gin, chef Freddy Bird and his critically-acclaimed Bristol restaurant littlefrench, publications by The Do Book Company, In My Blood by renowned Danish chef Bo Bech, The Borough Market Cookbook, and food publications from Phaidon (most recently Black Axe Mangal, Great Dixter’s books and The Irish Cookbook).
