Freddy Bird on Saturday Kitchen NYE Special
In the days between Christmas and the New Year, when nothing exciting is expected to happen, there was one highlight worth mentioning.
Our very own Freddy Bird made a guest appearance on the festive special of Saturday Kitchen. The Lido head chef joined Matt Tebbutt, Tamzin Outhwaite and Jose Pizarro on 29th December to discuss all things Lido, his tricks for the perfect New Year’s dinner, and his disdain for turkey sandwiches.
Freddy cooked up a delicious winter feast of Slow-Braised Ox Cheeks with Mash and Greens, whilst explaining that the food he creates is designed to complement the indulgent and hedonistic atmosphere of the Lido (which is perhaps why there was so much butter in it…)
Freddy brought his trademark eccentricity and humour to the festive proceedings. When asked by one viewer how to improve on leftover turkey sandwiches, he simply replied: “take the turkey out.”
