Lido Bristol is 10 years old!
10 years ago today, the Clifton Lido opened its doors to the people of Bristol after 2 painstaking years of restoration. In 2008, Arne Ringner and his team re-opened and restored the celebrated Victorian swimming pool after years of lying in a state of disrepair. Originally built in 1850, the Clifton Lido was an architecturally ambitious building celebrated for its Egyptian influences and forward-thinking design. With the help of local campaigners and a grade II* listing, the site was saved from redevelopment in 2006.
Since its relaunch, the Lido Spa and Restaurant has become a destination spot in Bristol, garnering a reputation for delicious food, relaxation and a welcoming atmosphere. In a spirit of hedonism rather than health, the Lido Bristol offers great food, outdoor swimming, Scandinavian spas and al fresco dining in one of the most exceptional settings.
